PROGRAM

Charles Felix introduced Tom Kouloris who recently returned from Haiti after spending five months in Port au Prince after the earthquake there.  He lived in one of the 40 shelter boxes that was provided by Rotary.  Tom stated that currently there are still 300,000 - 500,000 people living in collapsed buildings.  Some Haitians are living in tents that are made of four sticks and a sheet.  He stated that on the fourth day of the tent field hospital, Port-au-Prince airfield had 600 people within the camp and no toilets, no showers, no dumpsters, no sewers and no trash collection.  The country was filled with disease, destruction and disease and is alot more dangerous than you can imagine.  Since he had only a 220 bed facility he had to turn away patients.  "Save the ones you can and send the others to other hospitals".  During his 5 month stay, their were over 1,500 major surgical treatments, most of which were amputations.  He then had a question and answer period.

FOUR WAY TEST

Of the things we think, say or do:

    1.   Is it the TRUTH?

       2.   Is it FAIR to all concerned?

       3.   Will it build GOOD WILL and

              BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

       4.   Will it be BENEFICIAL to all

              concerned?
