PROGRAM:
Lloyd Rhodes introduced author Margaret Ajemian Ahnert who spoke about her experiences at other speaking engagements promoting her book titled The Knock At the Door. The book is about the Turkish extermination of Armenians using genocide. She then had a question and answer period.
In tribute to Veterans Day, Dan Austin recited the following:
On this Veterans Day, I am writing to express my pride and live to you and Uncles Ronald, Gene, and bob for your service to our nation during, and after World War II. I recall vividly waiting on the curb for you to come home in 1945, hoping that you would drive your tank destroyer down the street, and all us kids could hop on to take a ride over the fields.
Now the remembrances embrace a different story, simply thanking you for the sacrifices you all made for us. Some of us forget, others never recognized what you all did. I am reminded about a conversation I had at the ballet performance last Saturday evening when an acquaintance remarked that he never understood why anyone would serve our nation. I stared at him and asked him to enjoy the ballet, drive home safely, and sleep well as there are tens of thousands of men and women who defend him, whatever his opinion.
