Join us in our effort to collect no longerused cell phones.  Between now andmid January, we will gather as many cell phones as possible which will be sent away to benefit our club.  Bring

in all cell phones, even if you feel the

phone is inoperable.   Please put all phones in the box that  will be at the front desk in envelopes that will be provided.  Please include

your name, date and number of phones

on the envelope.

Rotary Minute:

Bob Easton reported that December is family

month.  It is offten said that childen are the

future of the world.  Healthy and happy

children are key to achieving Rotary's

goal of building international understanding

and peace in the world.  There is no better place to nourish a young mind than in a family

whose basic needs have been met and

who can spend time togethter.

 

Winners:

St. George Guardabassi won a tire gauge donated by Jerry Rosenthal.  Dr. Roger  Schnell won an Interact t-shirt.  Meryl and Pam Stephany each won a passport for two to the Renassiance Festival donated by Bobby Rodriguez.  Frank Lanzana won a  back pack donated by Jack Drury.  No one won the 50/50 money, the pot is now up Ro $1,779.  Bill Wheeler purchased the flowers donated by Kathy Morgan.  Marvin Chaney won two VIP tickets to the Boat Parade.

PROGRAM:

Lloyd Rhodes introduced Lisa Scott Founds who is President and CEO of the Winterfest

Boat Parade which is the largest boat parade in the country.  The parade's head sponsor is the Hard Rock Casino, will  be seen by over 850,000 people and the route is about 11 miles long.  It is a non-profit organization and the event is free to the public. Lisa introduced the chairman for the Boat Parade, John Haley who spoke about getting boat participants and stated that the hardest part of the parade is the staging of it.  The parade is divided into zones, each zone is represented by the size of the boat and is assigned an officer.  The planning of the event is a year long project.
