ROTARY CALLING

Join us in our effort to collect no longerused cell phones.  Between now andmid January, we will gather as many cell phones as possible which will be sent away to benefit our club.  Bring in all cell phones, even if you feel the phone is inoperable.   Please put all phones in the box that  will be at the front desk in envelopes that will be provided.  Please include your name, date and number of phones on the envelope.

Visitors: Bob Moorman introduced the following visiting Rotarians:  Art Ward from Ontario, Bill Wheeler from Boston, Bob Romano from MA, Randy Peterson from NC, Bjorn Watle, from Oslo, Leo Convery from Martha's Vineyard, Mark Mathews from IN and Joseph Mathew from IN.

The Rotarians that brought in guests are:  Charles Felix and Jeff Levenson.

Weird News:

Rotary Minute:

Charles Williams brought in a tape from Channel 4 news which intereviewed Mike Grimme during one of his relief trips to Haiti.  Mike has taken nurses and supplies to Haiti and brought back to the States some Americans that were stranded there.  Mike is the true meaning of a Rotarian.

 

In addition, Mike Grimme will be honored by Junior Achievement as busnessman of the year on March 3rd.  We are looking to fill two tables of Rotarians to attend this event at a cost of $150 per person.

 

Winners:

John Gustafson won an autographed book by Jack Drury.  No one won the money.  The pot is up to $202.  Bill Wheeler purchased the flowers donated by Kathy's Florist.

PROGRAM:

Past President Melissa Aiello introduced fellow Rotarian Jack Drury who always gives a humorous presentation.  Today, Jack showed some clips from a few of Johnny Carsons past programs and explained how he had something to do with each of those episodes.  Jack also spoke about the upcoming 50 year anniversary, celebration of the movie Where the Boys Are, which is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend on the Beach.

 

5K Run

Our seventh annual 5K run which was held this past Saturday ran without a hitch.  Johanna McMichael and Ann Meacham along with all the other volunteers did an awesome job.
