HAITI RELIEF

We have collected

$4,627.50 towards

Haiti Relief and will be

sending 1/3 to the

Salvation, Army, the Red

Cross and District 6990's

Haiti Relief.

Helmholdt.

 

Winners:

Fred Anderson won a box of chocolates donated by Dirk

Basting.  A visitor won a Dolphin Stadium tag.  Johanna

McMichael won Rotary wine charms.  Dr. Bob Helmholdt

won tickets to see a tribute to Bennie Goodman donated

by Ray Williams.  Bob Romano won tickets to the Panthers

hockey game.  No one won the 50/50 money.

 

 

 The pot is now up to $256.00.

 

 5K RUN

President Bill thanked Johanna McMichael, Ann Meacham

Rotary One Minute:

Dr. Bob Easton stated that the Rotary Foundations Group Study Exchange was established in 1965 - 66 as an educational program that promotes international understanding through organized travel and personal contract.  the program provides travel grants for teams of young professional men and women to exchange visits between paired districts in differnt countries. For 4 - 6 weeks, tema members study the host country's institutions and ways of life, observe their own professions as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.  A group study exchange team is headed by a Rotarian who is joined by 4 - 5 non-Rotarians.  YOU CAN VOLUNTEER TO BE A GSE EXCHANGE TEAM LEADER OR NOMINATE A NON-ROTARIAN GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE TEAM MEMBER.  If interested please contact Joe Roth at 954-646-6844

PROGRAM:

Nicole Gilmore introduced Dr. Alberto Casretto who is President of the Broward County Medical Association.  Dr. Casretto stated that there are currently 51 million people without health insurance, 4 million of which are in Florida.  For every one uninsured individual, the insured individual in paying an additional $100 in the health insurance premiums.  The 1,500 physicians that comprise the Broward County Medical Assocation are split regarding the health care reform by 50 - 50. Dr. Casretto then had a question and answer period.
