Rotary One Minute:

Words from a Group Study Exchange Team Member:

"In Warsaw, Poland, Waijecich Sierpinski, a Rotary Club President, took me on a tour that I will never forget.  We visited his parent's house - where they lived during World War II.  There in the kitchen, under a dusty stack of crates was a secret wood panel in the floor.  Waijeich removed the panel to reveal a tiny room underneath the kitchen floor where his parents hid their neighbors - a Jewish family - during the war.   As I stood speechless, listening to Waijeich describe how they evaded the Nazis, I realized the full value of the Group Study Exchange program."  Ian Oxman, Group Study Exchange member from California.

PROGRAM

Mike Casey introduced Ron Klein, Congressman of the 22nd District.  Congressman Klein spoke about the difficulties and challenging times of today with regards to Iran, Iraq, the economy and the health care issue. He has worked with leaders in the public and private sectors to encourage new small business loans in South Florida and unfreeze access to credit to ensure that credit worthy small businesses and real estate owners can access the loans they need to make payroll, purchases and expand their property and business interests.  He also stated that over 2 million men and woman that have served our country need full support when they return home. Regarding health care reform, Congressman Klein feels that instead of implementing one large reform, they should take portions that both the House and Senate agree upon and implement them that way.  He then had a question and answer period.

FOUR WAY TEST

Of the things we think, say or do:

    1.   Is it the TRUTH?

       2.   Is it FAIR to all concerned?

       3.   Will it build GOOD WILL and

              BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

       4.   Will it be BENEFICIAL to all

              concerned?
