LAST WEEKS MEETING:  July 7, 2010   Song: God Bless America led by John Myers.   Pledge: President John Gustafson led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.   Prayer: Don Glenn led us in prayer.   Guests: Martin Brody introduced the folowing  Rotarians who brought guests: John Myers, Steve Botkin, Melissa Aiello, Richard Sherman and James Woods.    Winners:  Jamie Meehan won a mouse pad donated by Jerry Rosenthal (Tire Hut).  Terry Robinson won a box of chocolates donated by Dirk Basting.  Jamie Meehan won a membership to the Riverside Hotel's pool. Wayne Boylan purchase the flowers donated by Kathy Morgan (Kathy's Florist).     The  50/50 pot is now up to $1,221.00   Charles Felix inducted Tyler Bolander and Jean Willey as the clubs newest members.   Outgoing Ambassadorial Scholarship recipient Angelina thanked all Rotarians for sponsoring her and especially those members who are a Paul Harris Fellow since those contributions are used to help fund her trip.

PROGRAM 

Dr. Bob Easton Introduced the Mayor of Pembroke Pines, Frank Ortis.

Mayor Ortis spoke about the "4th amendment", which is a constitutional amendment that if passed will be in force for a lifetime and will be on the ballot in November.  Mayor Ortis encouraged all to vote no for the amendment because if we supported it it would be a disaster for the state of Florida. He stated that if Amendment 4 was to pass it would permanently impact the economic growth potential for Florida, causing a steady decline in the standard of living of all Florida residents.  Further, permanently impacting employment and growth within major industries and job generating activities.  He then had a question and answer period.
