LAST WEEK'S MEETING

Mike Casey opened the meeting with the singing of God Bless America. Tom Tapp led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Don Glenn led us in prayer.

ROTARY MINUTE

Dr. Bob Easton stated that we have host families for all five GSE team members and if any member would like to attend the District Conference which will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe and is scheduled for Nov. 6th, at a cost of $195 will be reimbursed that amount as long as they hand in their receipt to Meryl.

 

WINNERS

Neal Bredbeck won a gift certificate to Tire Hut donated by Jerry Rosenthal.  Frank Lanzana won a box of choclates donated by Dirk Basting.  James Brooks picked the 50/50 raffle ticket but did not pick the ace of spades.  The pot is now up to $1,396.  Rick Marshall purchased the flowers donated by Kathy Morgan.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL 2009 - 2010 THEME

 

 

 

 

Rotary Theme 2009

         

 

PROGRAM

Tony Abbate introduced Kelley Shanley, CEO of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. 

Kelley stated that there are over 600 shows a year at the center, from Broadway shows, to Classical Music and Family shows, just to name a few, with over 600,000 tickets sold each

year.In addition the Center has meeting rooms for the community, they work with several local organizations, have educational programs including a program that teaches teachers to teach

 the students using the arts in all the subjects that are in the Broward County curriculum.  The Center actively contributes to cultural tourism and has a great economic impact on Broward County.  Their mission is to be a leader in promoting artistic offerings to our increasingly

diverse community with an emphasis on fostering a cooperative spirit to positively impact

the local economy and community.  Kelley then had a question and answer period.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our ANNUAL RAFFLE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!  By now every member should have received a package of at least 5 tickets to either sell or purchase. If history repeats itself, 

the most tickets are sold the last couple of weeks before the drawing, however to make

sure you have a ticket and to avoid the last minute crowd, please think about turning your

tickets in early. In additon to the  raffle our auction will be held the night of the raffle drawing. 

This event and the 5K Run are the only fundraising events will be having this Rotary fiscal year.  Please try and do your best to make this fiscal years fundraising events a huge success.  REMEMBER TURN YOUR

TICKETS IN EARLY!!

We currently have 99 tickets sold, with the Bucs in the lead selling 26 tickets

and the Dolphins are in last place only selling 3 tickets!!!
