PROGRAM:

President Bill Gundlach introduced fellow Rotarian Dan "Cottontop" Austin who has had 70 years of baseball experience.  He spoke about Hugh Alexander who became one of the foremost baseball scouts. Dan stated that the five tools of the trade that a baseball scout has to look for are: they have to know the difference betweeen a player and a performer, hitting a ball (you can teach someone to hit a ball but you cannot teach them to hit the ball with power), fielding, running, and throwing.  Dan stated that luck is the residue of successful planning. He then had a question and answer period.

SPECIAL PROJECTS;

Below are some pictures of the Rotarians that volunteered to help load a container filled with school supplies to the Bahamas:

OTHER NEWS:

I apologize for the lateness of this Tarpon, I have been on vacation and returned late last night.  My husband and I, along with another couple went to Bryson City, North Carolina, where we stayed at Bob Field's log cabin.  We had an awesome time, and below is a picture of me, my friend Stan, who is the President of the Pompano, Lighthous Point Rotary Club and two Rotarians Paul Crawley and Brian Thomas from the Bryson City Rotary Club.  Their club has 35 members.
